The Submariner Rollneck

New for Autumn/Winter 25 is our Submariner rollneck sweater. Produced in the Scottish Borders from a premium 6-ply lambswool, it offers unparalleled warmth with a refined texture and soft finish.

Originally a staple of the British Royal Navy in the early 1940's, the rollneck was widely adopted to protect from the biting chill and harsh conditions of long periods at sea. The heavier "Submariner" rollneck gained its widely used title after becoming synonymous with submarine crews patrolling the frigid arctic seas during the second world war. As with many military garments, the Submariner's use extended far past active service, becoming a staple in popular culture through to present day.

Our take on the Submariner rollneck is designed with a saddle shoulder and a deep, slim rib at the hem and cuffs. Cut with a roomy chest and featuring a shorter body length to be worn with high-rise trousers and used as a heavier layering piece beneath outerwear.

Made from 100% superfine lambswool from Todd & Duncan, one of Scotland’s oldest spinners with over 150 years of experience, the Submariner balances the original rugged charm with a luxuriously soft hand feel.
