Natalino was born from a desire to make great quality clothing at an accessible price point. Our vision has always led to us using high quality fabrics and construction whilst staying grounded. As the brand has grown and matured, the need to ground the business in reality became a focal point as we firmly believe the best tailoring experience is in-person.

London has a rich history in tailoring that can’t be ignored. Marylebone and Mayfair stand as pioneering areas for menswear in the capital, carrying some of the most admired brands and cloth houses in the world. After considering spaces here, we felt the brand should exist outside of this stretch. We take great care in the design and details of our garments though we're not precious about wearing them in. Looking to reflect this philosophy, we searched further afield and landed on Mortimer St. in Fitzrovia. On the doorstep of London’s busiest shopping district and home to a number of our favourite small Italian businesses (many of which are family-owned), it was the perfect first step. The location allowed for a larger square footage and more license to implement our creative vision for the space.

The concept for the shop was developed by Hackney-based architecture and design practice, Mooradian Studio. In its early phases, the Natalino shop was designed as a meeting point for a like-minded community of classic menswear enthusiasts; a store that would offer a more intimate interaction between customer and brand. We were keen to bring a degree of informality in how the space is used, where customers gain glimpses into the inner workings of the brand, hosting meetings with suppliers on the shop floor, for example. Inspiration was drawn from European showrooms, cafes and retail spaces, combining the use of raw and natural materials to reflect the production process of our garments.

Construction began in September 2023 with the floors and walls put in first followed by inbuilt shelving installed in the left hand wall that would become a display for our shirts, footwear, and publications. Base plates were installed on which the bespoke rails were to be placed. To add texture to the walls, they were first treated with an adhesive before being sprayed with post-consumer recycled paper, providing a warming contrast to the sharp lines of the metalwork and a unique audio that promotes an intimate atmosphere in the space. Once dried, the final rails, lighting and dressing curtains were installed to complete the project.

Walking through the door, the main collection is set on stainless steel clothing rails, running through the centre of the shop. This metalwork, constructed and fabricated by design agency, Mitre and Mondays, forms a unified, elegant and smooth structure reflecting the coherent and intricately constructed nature of the garments from which they hang. Flanking the rails are two sets of shelving: one built into the wall and another seemingly hovering weightlessly to the rear. Underneath a skylight at the back of the store is the large POS table which is positioned next to an alterations rail, a nod to the traditional tailor's workbench. This is the central meeting point of the store, hosting fitting discussions, supplier meetings, product design and planning. The beating heart of the brand.

Since opening in December 2023, the shop has fulfilled on all intentions, providing a space for events, photoshoots, client and supplier connections and a key meeting point for customers and friends alike. The space will certainly continue to evolve and adapt with us as the brand grows.
